I’ve never let my Down syndrome define me. School was strict, full of rules and discipline, but I focused on listening, learning, and doing my best. I was told I didn’t have any difficulties, and really, I didn’t feel held back. If I followed the rules and worked hard, I could keep up with everyone else.

After school, I went to college near Boldmere. I passed my courses and really enjoyed the experience. College gave me more independence and helped me build my social skills. Living with the Trust in Stutton has been another step in that independence. Making choices for myself has made me more confident and allowed me to explore my abilities in new ways.

Education has always been more than just academics for me. It has helped me get involved in politics, canvassing, and working on mental health projects. I’ve learned that with concentration and effort, people won’t see Down syndrome—they’ll see the person I am. That’s why I keep studying, practising maths, and improving my skills every day.

If I could give advice to anyone with Down syndrome, it would be simple: don’t give up. Keep working hard, focus on your goals, and believe in yourself. Hard work opens doors and shows people what you can do.

One of my biggest ambitions is to become a politician. I want to use my voice to help others, especially when it comes to mental health. Down syndrome is part of who I am, but I’ve never let it define me. Education, independence, and determination have shaped my journey, and I hope my story shows that nothing is impossible when you work hard and keep believing in yourself.
