First Aid Course Continues with a Focus on Bleeding
Today saw the continuation of our engaging First Aid course, with residents and tenants coming together once again to build vital lifesaving skills. This session focused on the topic of Bleeding, providing a hands-on opportunity to learn how to respond in situations where cuts or wounds occur.
Trustee Elizabeth Fruer, an experienced first aider, led the session and shared a wealth of knowledge on how to stem bleeding using everyday household items like t-shirts and tea towels. Her practical, down-to-earth approach helped to make the techniques feel accessible and manageable, no matter the situation.

A lively discussion broke out around why paper cuts hurt so much – a mystery that sparked both curiosity and a few sympathetic winces. The group explored the anatomy of fingers and nerve endings, which helped explain the sting that comes with such a small injury.
Residents and tenants had the chance to practice their new skills in a supportive and relaxed environment, gaining both confidence and competence. It’s all part of our commitment to empowering individuals with knowledge that can make a real difference in an emergency.
