Jade Heads to the National Care Awards Final
Jade Taylor, who works as a Support Worker at Lisieux House, is heading to the national finals of the Care Awards after being named Best Newcomer at the Midlands Regional Care Awards late last year.
Reflecting on her time at the Trust so far, Jade thinks her colleagues would describe her as hardworking, committed, and someone who makes a real difference. “I hope people would think, ‘Jade’s a grafter, Jade does this, and Jade’s trying to make changes,’” she admitted.
Jade (right, in the picture below, receiving her award) joined the Trust in late summer 2024, bringing with her experience in coordinating roles and six years working in a prison — a position she says she “absolutely loved.” Since joining, she has found her work rewarding because no two days are the same. “I like how I can have a laugh with residents, but in the office, I can focus and get things done,” she said.
Winning Best Newcomer at the regional awards came as a surprise to Jade – literally. “In all honesty, I wasn’t listening because they were going through everybody, and I thought I wasn’t going to win,” she said. “Then they called my name, and I was really surprised, especially because I thought I hadn’t done well in my interview.” She laughed, recalling how overwhelmed she felt at the time.
When asked to reflect on a highlight at the Trust, Jade said there had been so many, but one experience stood out: taking two residents, Emily and Lucy, to Manchester. “Lucy set her routine aside to come with us — that was a massive thing,” she said. Moments like these, she says, remind her why her work is so rewarding.
Jade’s dedication, positivity, and energy not only reflect her personal commitment but also represent the whole team at the Trust. Her win celebrates the hard work and care of everyone at the Trust, shining a light on the shared achievements of the whole staff team and the impact they have on the lives of the residents we support.
Good luck to Jade on Saturday — we’ll have a follow-up next week!
