Lisieux Trust Chair Forced Out of Sutton Fun Run Through Injury as Family Steps In
The Chair of Trustees at Lisieux Trust has sadly been forced to withdraw from the Sutton Fun Run after suffering a series of injuries.
Paul, who took up running last year and has spent months preparing for the event, had been training to raise money for the Trust and support its work with people with learning disabilities and autism.
However, in recent weeks, he developed plantar fasciitis in his left foot, which badly affected his training routine. More recently, he suffered a fall and twisted his other foot, leaving him unable to run altogether.
Paul said, “I am grateful to Josh and Caitlin for stepping in. I am really frustrated; having tried to push through the plantar fasciitis, which I have developed in the last few weeks, to get around the route was my plan, but this more recent injury is a setback too far. Maybe next year!
“Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me. I hope you don’t mind Josh and Caitlin running in my place.”
Despite the disappointment, Paul’s fundraising effort will still go ahead thanks to the support of his family. His son Josh, who was already taking part in the Sutton Fun Run, will now be joined by his girlfriend Caitlin, who has stepped in to run on Paul’s behalf.
Josh added: “I know how much Lisieux Trust means to Dad. Caitlin and I have decided to support him and the Trust and run this year on his behalf.”
Paul had been focused on completing the challenge for almost a year since taking up running and says he is “gutted” not to be taking part after months of preparation.
Although he will now be cheering from the sidelines, he hopes to return to the event next year.
