Nicola Celebrates Long Service Award
A tenant supported by Lisieux Trust has been recognised for 19 years of dedicated work at the British Heart Foundation shop in Sutton Coldfield.
Nicola received a certificate marking almost two decades of commitment to the charity, where she has become a familiar part of the team and built confidence through regular, meaningful work in the local community.
Speaking about her role, Nicola said: “I do things like tagging and steaming the clothes when they come into the shop ’, explaining that she also helps with jobs at the back of the shop. Her work supports the smooth running of the store and helps donated items reach customers.
Nicola works three mornings a week, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. She said: “I do three days a week,” describing a routine that has given her structure, purpose and a valued place within the shop team.
The recognition also reflects Lisieux Trust’s commitment to supporting people to be active, visible and included in their communities. Nicola’s long service shows how the right support can help people contribute their skills, form relationships and take pride in their achievements.
Nicola praised her manager, saying: “Natalie’s a nice manager”. She added that Natalie helps guide her tasks: “I asked her what you want me to do, and she tells me how to spend the morning
Asked what she enjoys most about working at the shop, Nicola said it was “meeting people” and added: “I have the customers as well.” Although there is uncertainty about the shop’s future, Nicola said: “We’re trying to keep it open”.
Her certificate is a proud reminder of loyalty, perseverance and the value of inclusive opportunities in the heart of Sutton Coldfield.
The Trust is delighted that many of our tenants and residents take part in work outside of the Trust that allows them to make a real difference within their community, whether it be volunteering jobs or other work.
So many of them undertake these roles, and we will be highlighting as many as we can over the coming months.
