Resident Eyes Personal Best As He Signs Up For Fun Run

30 Apr 2024 | Category: News

Record-breaking is on the mind of one of our residents after he signed up to compete in a Fun Run in just over a month. Now he is eyeing a personal best.

Energetic David (pictured here at the Monday Night Football session) joined the Trust with his brother, Daniel, in late 2023 and is always playing sports, with football and tennis his favorites. Now, he plans to compete in the Sutton Fun Run on June 2nd.

He’s no stranger to the event, having completed the course over the years, but this time he says it’s different: “I’ve done it before, but now I want to achieve my fastest time. I think I can!” he told us confidently. The Trust staff are in training too so they can support – and keep up with – the athlete at the event!

Staged over an eight-and-a-half-mile course, Sutton Fun Run is one of the longest-established events in the country, having operated for over 40 years. The competitors combined have raised well over £5m for good causes since its inception – the 2023 event alone raised £187,000.

David does plan to raise money but says he “hasn’t decided yet” who he’d like to give it to. We will keep you informed. Watch this space.

This latest fitness challenge follows another of our residents, Emily, raising hundreds of pounds for Cancer Research in March with her Steps endeavor, and another of our houses who recently undertook a successful weight loss and nutrition program.
