Residents And Tenants To Assist CQC To Challenge Stereotypes

03 Jul 2024 | Category: News

We are delighted that Tenants and Residents of the Trust will be assisting the Care Quality Commission (CQC) on an extensive piece of work designed to challenge the assumptions and preconceptions of wider society surrounding Learning Disabilities and Autism.

The work centered around the phrase “You think you know me…. “We have already had a workshop attended by almost half of our Residents and Tenants, where they discussed what they already did – such as work, hobbies and fun – and their hopes and dreams for the future.

These will now form the basis of their statements to the CQC, who are coming to Head Office to film the residents (who are being paid for their time) and use them as part of some training programmes.

The event was attended by Trust Managers and other staff as well as the Residents and, Marketing And Communications Officer, Andy Thorley said: “It was inspiring to hear all the stories of the Trust family, as well as hearing their ambitions. It was a heart-warming experience and I am very proud of them all for doing this.”

The filming is later this month at Head Office and locations around Sutton Coldfield, Boldmere and beyond and we’ll bring you more on it next month.
