Residents Assist NHS At Partnership Workshop

11 Jul 2024 | Category: News

We were delighted to assist the NHS with a Partnership Workshop last week at Head Office.

We welcomed The Neighborhood Network Team from Witton Lodge to meet with Residents and Tenants to discuss their experiences in accessing the NHS regarding GP’s and so forth.

As ever, our Residents and Tenants gave honest, open, and important testimony, which will prove to be incredibly valuable as the NHS looks to improve things for people with Learning Disabilities and people with Autism.

The almost two-hour discussion took in both challenges and best practices, including one of our houses being visited by their local doctors each week.

The Witton Lodge staff – one of whom was known to the Trust family having previously been a Support Worker here – learned a lot that they can take forward.

We are always proud of the willingness that our Residents and Tenants show to get involved in these discussions to give their unique perspectives.

Both in their contributions to the community through work and other projects, plus through their work as “experts by experience” in other aspects, or speaking at conferences as one did recently,  our Residents and Tenants are always at the forefront of assisting in an effort to make things better for others.

This is particularly relevant in the NHS, given that new Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, described the service as “broken” on his first speech last week.
