Tenants Enjoy The Fruits Of Their Labour
Tenants from Lisieux Trust recently took part in a special Open Day at Roots to Fruit, where they enjoyed a hands-on free taster session designed for people with Learning Disabilities and Autism.
Nick, Jack, Ade, and Nick rolled up their sleeves to take part in the full apple-juicing process – from Jack picking apples, to Nick and Ade pulping the fruit, and finally Nick producing delicious, fresh apple juice. The results were so good there was plenty to share around, and Nick and Ade were able to take a bottle home to enjoy later.
Ade and Nick, who have both achieved City & Guilds qualifications during their time at the group, reflected on how much the sessions mean to them.
“We had a great time and love going each week,” they said.
Ade added with a smile:
“I love the banter with Jonathan.”
Roots to Fruit is a community-based learning organisation that uses horticulture to teach skills, encourage teamwork, and build confidence. The Open Day provided a wonderful opportunity for tenants to showcase what they have been learning while also enjoying the fun of working together outdoors.
Andy Thorley, Lisieux Trust’s Marketing and Communications Officer, praised the partnership:
“Jonathan and the team at Roots to Fruit do such brilliant work. They not only provide our tenants with practical skills but also create a fun, supportive, and welcoming environment. It’s clear to see the positive impact these sessions have on confidence, wellbeing, and friendship.”
The Lisieux Trust is proud to support opportunities that help tenants grow, learn, and connect with their community.
