The Trust Gets Fired Up
Residents and Tenants from across the Trust enjoyed a fantastic afternoon at Erdington Fire Station, where they were warmly welcomed by the crew for the second time. The visit was filled with fun, laughter, and a real sense of excitement as everyone got the chance to experience what life as a firefighter is really like.
The afternoon began with the group trying on full fireman’s gear, before climbing aboard the fire engine for a ride around the station yard. Spirits were high as residents and tenants imagined themselves heading out on a real emergency call. After that came one of the highlights of the day – taking turns on the hose. There were lots of laughs when someone, who shall remain nameless, accidentally soaked Ian, one of the firemen!
The crew then gave our group the chance to put themselves in the firemen’s shoes as the alarm sounded, simulating a callout. It was an exciting moment for everyone to see how quickly the team springs into action.
The Trust family had a wonderful day with only one small complaint – Resident Glendon, who proudly serves as Fire Marshal at his house each week, was disappointed there was no fireman’s pole to slide down!
A big thank you to everyone at Erdington Fire Station, especially Ian and Emma, for their kindness and hospitality.
