Theatre Comes To The Trust
We were absolutely delighted to be able to bring the theatre into one of our houses this week – and allow some of our residents to experience the magic of live performance up close.
Tudor Musical Comedy Society came in to give residents of Lisieux House a sneak preview of their production of Calamity Jane, which is set to be performed at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall in June.
The cast set up their stage in the corner of the Bartres Bungalow and residents joined in for a thrilling afternoon of songs and fun.
We spoke to two of the residents who attended, with one, Steven, confirming he’d had a “brilliant time” and adding that his favourite bit “was the mouse that was running about. It was funny.”
Another Steven said that he was going to experience it a second time: “I am going to see them somewhere else, too, I want to watch it again,” he said.
He also thought for a while when asked to pick the bit he enjoyed most, before deciding: “I liked all the cowboy hats and the people doing the singing. I joined in.”
Speaking of joining in, this video might show you how much fun it was – as Richard will demonstrate.
The idea came from one of our Registered Managers, Lisa Powell, who said: “I thought it was brilliant, the guys all loved it, singing along and having a fantastic time. It’s something that we will do again, I am sure.”
The Society enjoyed it just as much, saying in a Facebook post: “We are incredibly proud of the cast of Calamity Jane for all their work this morning. We have been able to offer experiences to people who wouldn’t usually have access to them… and we love being able to give back to the community”.
