Volunteers’ Week Message from the Chair
Volunteers’ Week always makes me reflect on the impact that giving your time can have — not only on the people you support, but on the person you become. More than 30 years ago, I spent eight years volunteering at Lisieux House, and those experiences shaped me profoundly. They taught me to listen, to value individuality, and to understand the difference that supporting and human connection can make. That grounding still guides me today and is one of the reasons I am so proud to serve as Chair of Lisieux Trust.
This week is also a moment to recognise the exceptional commitment of my fellow trustees. They give their time freely to ensure the people we support live with dignity, safety and opportunity. The Governance inner environment can be demanding, requiring judgment, resilience and compassion; they bring steadiness and integrity to every discussion.
They challenge thoughtfully, support generously, and hold the organisation to the highest standards because they care deeply about the lives behind every decision.
During Volunteers’ Week, thank you for your dedication. Your contribution strengthens Lisieux Trust, and I am proud to serve alongside you.
